We had super Christmas, went to church on Christmas Eve, had friends over on Christmas day and took the kids slay riding.

The weather here has been super, it got all the way up to 40 degrees here today. Things are starting to loosen up here, we were able to get the manure cleaned up by the hay mangers.

Right now we are building round bale feeders, my face is rather burnt from not always having my welding helmet on when doing spot welding. We should be done by tomorrow.

Gave all the cows their final scour guard shot on Monday, we are now ready for calving. Some of the cows are starting to spring up a bit. Probably in the next week we will get our first calf.

The bulls are really growing good, have a super Frontline calf out of a daughter of Beauty 5042, also have a super Lucy's Boy son out of a Band 701 cow. The Lucy's Boy 7137 bulls as a group are really good as well as the Dutch calves.

I have had quite a time here the last two weeks--my computer crashed big time. It is incredible how big of an impact a computer has in one's life. I was to have had the footnotes done for our up-coming bull sale, could not do that, have all of my notes in AIMS. Could not call anyone, had all of my phone numbers in my computer. Had to send some embryos out to Jacs Ranch and Cathy Turner, could not remember which ones, they were in an e-mail. Needless to say, I am very happy to have the computer back--I was even happy to pay the $458.00 just to get it back.

Today was picture day at Van Dyke Angus, John Goggins from Billings came up to do the services. We took pictures of 9 head total, and I do believe that most of them will turn out pretty well. As soon as I get copies of them I will put a few on the web site.

The weather has been fair out here, highs in the 30's and lows around zero. We have had a lot of wind as of late so the snow is getting to be in fairly big piles, it would be very nice to get a good thaw so we could get some of the manure from around the feed mangers.

We purchased 3 new center pivots last week so we are somewhat excited for next summer, it will be interesting what else we can find to do instead of moving sprinkler pipe.

Enterprise is coming along real well, his hair is starting to lay in place real well. We weighed him the other day, he is right at 1900 lbs, so he has some good size for a bull of his age.

Hopefully my computer will stay working now and I will once again do my ranch news on schedule.

I have been home from my vacation now for a week and am really back into the swing of things.  We have received a fair amount of snow so far this year, probably more than we have had over the last two years.  They are predicting super cold weather here this weekend, highs around zero with lows around -30, I hope they are wrong, I do not like that kind of weather.

We are currently getting Enterprise ready to go to Denver.  We will have him on display in the yard in Pen 16. We are working with him almost everyday trying to get his hair to lay right.  I think I have had enough of this, probably that is why we do not do any showing of our cattle.

Tomorrow morning will be kind of fun, Vance Uden of TC Ranch and Don Trimmer of Accelerated are coming over to look at the cattle, this will be a nice chance to get out of combing the hair on Enterprise!

On Friday, my friend Darin Veltkamp and I are going to try and make some summer sausage and pepperoni, so with any luck at all my own personal weight gain should certainly go up.  One thing is for sure, I wish are bulls were as efficient as I was when in comes to feed conversion.

Only about 1 month away from getting are first baby calves, it is always kind of exciting to see if you made the proper choices last breeding season.  The cows are starting to spring up a little bit so it will not be far off.  We will give them their shot of scour guard before to long.

Hope you all had a super Thanksgiving, I sure did.  Just got back from Edmonton, had super time.  We are glad to be back home however I would have no problem with leaving again tomorrow.

I really have no idea at all what is going on with the farm, I do know of about a million things that I have to get done.  The weather looks like it has been all right, don't think there is any more snow than when I left.  We have started to feed the cows, probably will have to do that now until grass time next year.

As soon as I know what is going on here I will write again.

Going to try and start my ranch news again, I am working with the good people at advantagecattle.com and they have me doing all kinds of fun things.  I purchased a digital camera this past week so I will try and include a few photographs each time.

We moved the cows out of the mountains on Wednesday, we are starting to get quite a snow build up out here and it was time to get the cows home.  We used 3 big cattle trucks and had several pickup and trailers going.  Returned all of the cows so with all of the fire that we had this summer I thought that was great.

The weather has been very cold out here as it has all over, the frost is already in the ground about 10 inches.

We are getting VDAR Enterprise ready right now to go to Denver in January, he looks like a million bucks, you had better stop by the booth and pick up a hat, Larry's goal is to give everyone at Denver a hat with Enterprise on it!  Seems his is going to order around 500 hats.

Our Traveler 275 calves are just super this year, this bull has what it takes to make it big time and with his full sister selling for $120,000 now maybe the time to start using this great bull.

I am heading for Canada today and will be gone for about 9 days so it will be around 10 days before I write again.  Most people head south for the winter but we are going North to Edmonton.
