| Winter weather has finally arrived in Montana and I am sick
of it already. Temperatures are around 0º F ( -18º C) at night and getting up
to around 25º F ( -4º C) during the day. We have had a lot of snow and it is
currently snowing quite heavily. We went up to the Mussard Bull Sale today, sale was a
little bit down from last year but still went pretty well. We sold a VDAR Sleep Easy 515
son to Tri Mountain Angus for $4,750, a N Bar Emulation EXT son for $3,750 and also a VDAR New Trend 315 for $3,000. In all we averaged around
$3,000 on our 8 bulls. High selling bull was a VDAR Rito 953
consigned by the Fishhook for $9,000 to GDAR and Horse Butte Angus.
We are almost done hauling barley, I am truly looking forward to that day. In the next
week or so there will be alot of Angus sales in our part of Montana, Leachman Angus has
their sale on Thursday and Nelson Wert (North Fork) has his sale on Friday. |

| Weather is finally getting better out here. We currently
have around 15 inches ( 38 cm )of snow on the level. It is supposed to be getting
up to 50º F ( 10º C) tomorrow so I imagine it will be getting very sloppy
around here. We will finally be test pumping the well tomorrow. An outfit out of Idaho
came in today and set up the pump so hopefully we will have good news.
We will be flushing eight heifers on Monday, I finished breeding them yesterday. They
all had perfect heats so I have high hopes. The Leachmans have their sale tomorrow so
hopefully I will make it over there. |

| Warm and sloppy is what the weather is like out here right
now. Temperatures have been near 50º F ( 10º C) so with 15 inches ( 38 cm )
of snow on the level we will have weeks of mud to deal with. The calves seem to be
handling it ok however we have had to some down with bloody scours. We test pumped the
irrigation well the other day and it did not go so well. We found out that the
perferations that were put in did not go all the way through so they had to do it over
again. Tommorrow we will put the test pump down again and hopefully have better news this
time. South Montana Angus sale is this week Saturday in Butte, Montana. They have some
outstanding bull consigned so hopefully the sale will go ok. |

| Test pumping of the well is kind of put on hold again right
now. The engine they were using blew up on them so they have to come back with a different
one, hopefully in the next week or so they will start again. It does not appear that
the well is going to produce quite as much as we had hoped but we still have hopes that
there will be enough. Weather has warmed up quite a bit. Highs in the 50'sº F (
10º C) and lows in the the 30'sº F ( 0º C). If we could happen to get a
couple more days of warm weather maybe we could get some of the mud starting to dry up.
Calves seem to be handling all of the mud quite well, haven't had very many sick ones yet.
Went over to the South Montana sale in Butte on Saturday. It went very well, with the
sale average up quite a bit from last year. We would like to thank Sam Carter of Indiana
on his purchase of embryos out several different donors. |

| Things are still very wet a sloppy here, it seems everytime
it starts to dry up we get another good shot of rain or snow. Temperatures are in the
40'sº F ( 5º C) during the day and the 30'sº F ( 0º C) at night.
Hopefully before to long the weather will straighten up a bit and let things dry up for
us. They weighed the bulls of test at Midland the other day, our bulls did very well.
Lot 113 is a VDAR Ambush 1465 SAF out of VDAR Elluna 3155, he finished up weighing 1,350 lbs (
612 Kg). with a average daily gain of 3.61 (1.64 Kg/day), a 112 gain ratio
and 1,270 lbs( 576 Kg). 365 day weight. Lot 115 is a VDAR
Vision 243 out of VDAR Beauty 806, he finished up
weighing 1,500 lbs ( 680.3 Kg). with a average daily gain of 3.55 (1.61
Kg/day), a 110 gain ratio and a 1,253 ( 568.3 Kg) yearling weight. We also
had 2 other bulls their that were very much above average so all in all things look very
good.
We would like to that Dave Felumlee of Ohio on his purchase of a select group of
embryos out of VDAR Beauty 4189, VDAR Beauty 5154, VDAR Elluna 97, VDAR
Evergreen 5026 and GDAR Eilenemere Lady 6102.
We would also like to thank Wayne Knight of Alabama on his purchase of another group
of embryos as well. |
