The new VDAR Angus Site is up and running!

Busy calving right now, have had around 70 newborns in the last 10 days. Birth weight are low this year due to the fact that we did not have to start feeding until mid December. The weather has warmed up a bunch, yesterday it got up to 30°F (-1° C) and today it feels like it will be even warmer, beats the 20° below (-29°C) stuff we have had the last couple of days by a whole bunch.

Clarence is in Denver (National Western Stock Show) right now, called last night and said the VDAR Ambush 1465 SAF will be shown there. He said the bull was weighing around 2,500 lbs, ( 1,134 Kg) pretty good for a coming three year old.

Weather is beautiful here right now, highs of around 30° to 40°F (-1 to 4.4°C). Still busy calving, now have around 95 head of calves. Had a super son born out of RR ScotchCap 9440 and VDAR Polly 6025

We at Van Dyke Angus would like to thank the following people for their recent purchases of embryos, Gary and Betty Murphy of WolfCreek, MT, and Cedar Creek Farms of Dallas, TX.

Calving is going along very smooth, weather has been perfect. In the last couple of days we had about 6 more inches (15.25 cm) of snow, but today the sun is shining and it is around 30°F (-1° C).

We are drilling an irrigation well right now and found some pretty good water at around 275 ft. (84 meter) however the real good water should be found at around 380 ft. (116 meter) Hopefully in the next day or two they will be down to it.

Thanks to Paul Sidey of Wapakoneta, OH on his purchase of embryos on VDAR Lucy 5156 x VDAR Vision 243,   VDAR Polly 4027 x Lucys Boy and VDAR Beauty 4189 x Rito 2100.

January 26th
Still busy calving, have around 180 total calves. We are getting a higher % of bull calves at this time but that can change real quick. The well that we are drilling is nearly complete. They are at 380 ft (116 meter) and it appears that the well will produce around 1500 gallons per minute (6,820 liter per min.). In the next couple of days they will install a screen at the bottom and then we will test pump it.

The Montana Winter Fair is in Bozeman and is currently going on right now, the Angus banquet will be held on Tuesday night.

Thanks to Sam Carter, Carter Farms of Indiana on his purchase of a flush on VDAR Beauty 6220, she is a daughter of VDAR Vision 243 and VDAR Beauty 806. She will be flushed to VDAR Ambush 1465 SAF.

Calving is still going great, The Ambush 1465 calves are really starting to stand out. We had a set of   Lucys Boy twin bull calves out of a first calf heifer and they both survived. Keith is still really impressed with the 9440 bull calf.

Weather has been beautiful, highs in the lower 40°s F (4-6° C). and lows around 15°F (-9.4° C). We are currently giving shots to another bunch of donor cows so hopefully in about a week we will have more embryos.
