Welcome to the Van Dyke Angus Ranch website!
Van Dyke Angus is a family cattle operation located in the Gallatin Valley near Manhattan, Montana. We have been breeding quality Angus cattle since 1952. While you’re visiting our site we hope you’ll take the time to read the history of Van Dyke Angus Ranch.
Our operation also includes some farming. We raise small grains and hay on about 2,000 dryland and irrigated acres.
And in addition to the main VDAR herd here in Montana, we also have cattle in a cooperator herd near Sentinel Butte, North Dakota, at the Dietz Family Angus Ranch.
Our primary focus here at VDAR is producing exceptional Angus bulls for use in the commercial cattleman’s herd; hence our annual Cattlemen’s Advantage Bull Sale.
Van Dyke Angus Ranch has always been about the Mother Cow. This is even more true of our modern operation. Today we continue with a firm commitment to breeding what we believe is absolutely the best herd of fertile, productive cows in the nation. In fact, on this website you can review the stringent qualifications of any VDAR cow.
Our philosophy at VDAR is this: A good bull is the result of breeding good females. Click here to take a look at the bulls we are offering for sale this year, as well as for information on our herd sires. As you do, keep in mind that at Van Dyke Angus Ranch we use a bull for one year, and then we will not breed him again until he has satisfactory producing daughters in the cowherd. Simply put, if he doesn’t perform, he doesn’t belong on this ranch.
Also on this website you’ll find archived editions of the VDAR newsletter. Each newsletter we put out is packed full of information about VDAR, beef cattle production and management, and industry-relevant news. Won’t you take a moment – or a couple hours – to look through these archives? They’ll give you a great idea of where we’ve been and where we’re headed here at Van Dyke Angus Ranch.
Thanks for stopping by!
